Blackjack and poker dealers. Amy, pictured above, was the blackjack dealer for a financial trading company’s corporate holiday party in Chicago. They hired a vast array of talent including musicians, casino dealers, photo booth photographers and more. Dealers are dedicated to the veneer that the casino has created—that this is a happy place where winning is more than possible. It’s a dealer’s job to welcome you, make small talk, and generally instill hope at the expense of the likely-today-certain-over-time outcome. Blackjack is a popular casino game that you play against the dealer. The game is fun but not as simple as some of the other games you get at casinos, like slots for instance. It requires skill and at least some level of strategy. There are, however, simple as well as advanced tips that you can use to bring down the house edge further.

1 – Minimum bet of $2 / Maximum bet of $100

3 – Minimum bet of $25 / Maximum bet of $350
You can choose to play at a private table or play with others on a public table. It also gives you the option to play against a human dealer, when available, if so desired. There’s also a VIP option but this reviewer was not able to choose that option in the “play for fun” mode.

The speed of this blackjack game is just right and the graphics are easy on the eyes. The dealer’s voice is that of a beautiful Indian woman with a slight British accent who seemed to enjoy the reviewer’s company so much that she secretly slipped him her phone number and the time her shift ended on a drink napkin. Okay, so I’m lonely.
Here are the basics of Be The Dealer’s blackjack:
- 6 decks are used and shuffled after each hand
- blackjack pays 3-2 or 1.5x your bet
- dealer and player push on a tie
- dealer must hit on anything under 17 as well as a soft 17 (ace + 6)
- player can bet $1, $5, $25 or $100 depending on the table.
Be The Dealer offers you the unique option of being the dealer (hence the name). If you have ever sat down at a blackjack table in Vegas for 6 hours you will understand how this option gives you a slight advantage over being the player. Basic blackjack strategy is fairly simple once you get the feel for it but a lot of people will enter the game without this knowledge. It’s all about the odds!
In order to be the dealer, a player must accumulate enough dealer points through regular play. For each dollar bet as a player the casino will reward you with one dealer point. Once you have reached a certain amount of dealer points you can choose to be the dealer or exchange the points for cash. The casino will even give you 200% dealer points bonus on your first deposit!
Dealing at a public table.
The minimum amount of dealer points to play at a public table is calculated as such: 3(maximum number of players) * 3 (maximum number of hands)* (Maximum Bet + Casino commission for maximum bet). The Casino commission is 1.75% of the bets on the table and is calculated after each round.
Dealing at a private table.
The minimum amount of dealer point to play at a private table is calculated as such: 3 (maximum number of hands) * (Maximum Bet + Casino commission for maximum bet). The Casino commission is 1.75% of the bets on the table.
The calculation is a bit complicated but once you figure it out you will see how this gives you better odds of coming out ahead than playing as a player.

maybe you’re thinking “I should become a Blackjack Dealer!”
Well, if you go through the right steps, the odds are in your favor.
Are you cut out for the job?
In order to be a successful dealer, you need to possess certain qualities that may not be able to be taught.
- Be a “people person” – If you’re going to be successful at dealing Blackjack, it is important to possess good people skills since you are dealing with people throughout your shift.
- Be good with numbers – Needless to say, you must be able to count quickly and have excellent math skills…it’s imperative! You must be able to count out chips, handle money, and deal the game quickly and accurately.
- Be dexterous – If you don’t possess a high level of dexterity with your hands, dealing Blackjack is probably not the job for you. You must be able to smoothly and quickly deal cards and handle chips with confidence and ease.
Blackjack Dealer Job Requirements
Casino requirements for Blackjack Dealers may vary. However, most casinos will require the following:
Study! – You’ve already taken the first step by reading through these tips. The next step should be to further educate yourself through studying in more detail.
The Big “M” Casino has a free Blackjack class, so it is definitely a good place to start!
You may also find many helpful resources online or in Blackjack reading material. (See our suggested reading in Tip #21!)
Go to Casino school – most casinos will require that their card dealers have attended a casino school.
Apply with a Casino – Once you’ve had proper training, you will typically need to apply for the casino you would like to work for and follow their application requirements.
It may be to your advantage to apply for other positions if they don’t have any positions available for Blackjack Dealers.
Those who already work for the Casino in another capacity will likely have an advantage when a position for dealing blackjack becomes available.
Take an In-House Training Session – Most Casinos will have an in-house training session (typically about two weeks long) that is specific to their Casino rules.
Audition – Many Casinos require a sort of “audition” before they will hire you as a card Dealer. This may involve dealing at a live action game.
If you pass the test…then you’re an official Blackjack Dealer!
