Craps Strategy Place 6 And 8

Updated August 9 2014 by Nelson who originally submitted this strategy!

These are the two best numbers to place bet. There are five ways to make a 6 and five ways to make an 8. That's 10 ways to make either number. A 7 can be made in six ways. You can place bet a number that is also the point. A place bet can be taken down or made off at anytime. A place bet on either number pays 6 to 5. The seven should roll six times in 36 rolls, and the combination of the 6 and 8 should roll ten times (five times each). So, in 36 rolls, you should win 10 times (at $35) and lose six times (at $60). This turns out to be a net loss of $10 ($350-$360). This also works for Place 6. 1) Walk up to the table with $38 2) Place 8 for $30 and have $1.00 chip ready. 3) When the 8 gets rolled the first time, simply drop a $1.00 Chip to the dealer and press to $66 4) Have your remaining $7.00 Chips ready. Note that the Place 6 and 8 wagers pay 7:6, therefore we must place these bets in increments of 6 (i.e. Wait for the shooter to establish a point. Place the following four bets: $5 Field Bet; $5 Place Bet on 5; $6 Place Bets on 6; $6 Place Bets on 8; This image shows what the craps table should look like with your Iron Cross bets in place.

However assuming you want to restrict your bets to Place bets the next best method is to place the 6 and/or 8. Suppose you did this and your friend bet all the numbers. On a bad day you could be unlucky and all the rolls seem to be 4,5,9 and 10 without any 6 or 8's. However on a good day they'd all be 6 and 8's.

  • The strategy is strictly place betting. It is based on the following:
    • The 6 and 8 are the two place numbers that are most frequently rolled.
      • The house advantage on the 6/8 is 1.52%.
    • The 4/10 payoff is 2 to1[buy].
      • The house advantage on the 4/10 [buy] is 1.67% if the 5% commission is paid on the win.
  • The strategy has these money management principles:
    • Recoup investment before pressing bets up. The key to the strategy is hitting a 6 or 8 before a 7 shows. There are a total of ten ways to make either a 6 or 8 and six ways to make a 7. Odds are 10 to 6 in favor of making a 6 or 8 before a 7.
    • Press bets according to the betting progression for each place number.
  • Bypass the come out roll and wait for a point to be established.
  • Place the 6 and 8 for $18 each for a total of $36, regardless if 6 or 8 is the point.
